 Frequently Asked Questions

What should we wear for our session?

Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident so that you’re able to relax and enjoy yourself during your session - this will help you look your best. Think about coordinating family outfits instead of overly matching. Choose two or three colors that complement each other. Neutral colors are always a great look on their own, or mixed in with the colors that you’ve selected. Using a mix of prints and solids is a great way to add interest, but don’t overdo it with the patterns so you can still keep the look pulled together. For women, you can’t go wrong with a flowy dress. It can create a fun, playful, romantic feel and the movement of a dress photographs beautifully. Neutral/earthy colors look great for men (white, black, beige, brown, greens and blues). Some things to avoid: neon colors, logos, shirts with text, anything that doesn’t fit properly. Above all else, plan for clothing that makes everyone in your family feel their best.

What location should we choose for our session?

I use natural light in my photography so most sessions take place outdoors. We can work together to find the perfect location for your family. Think about what setting suits your vision: a setting with trees, a grassy field, a lake, a more urban look, a vineyard. It’s always fun to let the kids explore and have an adventure during the session - playing games, running around, picking flowers, hunting for bugs. I can also capture your family in your own home - this works especially well if you have a young baby.

When will our session take place?

The best time of day for a session is about an hour before sunset. It’s also an option to schedule your session in the morning at sunrise if that works better for your family - I’ll make sure to have my coffee first ;)

What should we expect for our session?

I specialize in lifestyle family photography. For my style of photography I give prompts and orchestrate activities so that I can capture the connection that follows. I want you to have fun and feel special during your photo shoot. I will capture a few photos where everyone is smiling and looking at the camera, but mostly you will be interacting as a family. I know photo shoots can feel a bit overwhelming; worrying if the kids will behave the way you hope, getting everyone ready and out the door, wondering if the photos will turn out alright. The best thing you can do is just relax and have fun. It’s my mission to help you do that as we create beautiful memories for your family. Kids will be kids, and we’ll go with the flow as we capture their adorable personalities and precious quirks that you will love looking back on. We will do things that they enjoy and take breaks if needed. It’s always helpful to have a few favorite toys or books handy for these occasions. Get ready for some cuddling, playing, hugging, and laughter!

What if it rains?

We will reschedule your session if there is rain.

When will my photos be ready?

I’m so excited to get them to you! I will have them back to you within 2-3 weeks of your session date.
